Full Day JoburgPlaces Viewpoints & Watering Holes Tour (by bus)
A fantastic full day tour (8 hours), involving storytelling that covers the entire history and development of Johannesburg in seven phases, combined with visits to some of the most historic, astonishing. and trendy rooftop bars, pubs and restaurants. A way to experience the warm heartbeat of Johannesburg and to leave astonished.
Guests get to spend the entire day with legendary JoburgPlaces Chief Storytelling & Guide, Charlie Moyo personally. Not only hearing the astonishing story of the city but engaging in personal conversation that will enlighten, entertain, and inspire.
The tour typically runs from 10am-6pm with a stop for lunch along the way.
This tour itinerary below is indicative and may be adjusted depending on which venues are available on the day of your tour, or the size of your group. We have a wide array of possible stops to choose from and guests can know that the combination of venues chosen, will always make for a spectacular experience.
10:00: Pickup at your hotel in Rosebank, Sandton, or the Parks Suburbs
(Pickups further afield are possible but please check with us when booking as it will influence the schedule/timing of the tour. It could also incur an additional cost depending on the location.)
10:30: STOP 1: Radisson Red Rooftop Rosebank or Flames at Westcliff Hotel
We start the tour in the north with a view over the verdant urban forest of the Parks suburbs, as well as an opening storytelling on how Johannesburg was founded.
11:20: Depart
11:45: STOP 2: Sunnyside Park Hotel or Mikes Kitchen in Parktown
We visit either what was once the house of the British Lord Millner during the Anglo-Boer War and today a hotel overlooking a lush garden on the edge of the city, or a historic Randlords manor house converted to a restaurant.
12:30: Depart
12:50 STOP 3: Food I Love You at Constitution Hill
One of the most historic locations in Johannesburg is the Old Fort at Constitution Hill. We linger here for storytelling, drinks, and lunch. Guests can also walk up the rampart and enjoy the city skyline views.

14:30: Anew Parktonian Hotel Rooftop, Braamfontein
Perfect for drinks with a spectacular 360 degrees view of the inner-city and beyond.
15:30: Depart.
15:45 STOP 4: Hallmark House Rooftop, Maboneng or Elevate Rooftop at Reef Hotel, Marshalltown
Spectacular spot to enjoy storytelling and cocktails overlooking the City of Gold.
16:45: Depart
17:00: STOP 5: Radium Beer Hall, Orange Grove or Bertrand Café Maboneng
We stop either at the brilliant French Congolese Café and Jazz Venue, Bertrand Café, or at Radium Beer Hall, the longest running bar in Johannesburg. The perfect round-off the tour!
17:45: Depart
18:15 Drop off back at your hotel.

This tour is ONLY available for private group bookings. Fees below are for guiding, storytelling, and private bus transport with driver only. Any food or drinks along the way for the guests’ own account:
A tour for 2 guests: R2600 per person
A tour for 3 guests: R2200 per person
A tour for 4 guests: R1600 per person
A tour for 5 guests: R1400 per person
A tour for 6 guests: R1200 per person
A tour for 7 or more guests: R1100 per person
A tour of 14 or more guests: R1000 per person
A tour for 22 or more guests or more: R900 per person
Inner-city focused JoburgPlaces Viewpoints & Watering Holes tour (by bus)
This version of the tour is slightly shorter (6 hours) and focuses on the amazing pubs, bars and rooftops of the inner-city only. It typically runs from 2pm-8pm. Places visited depends on venues available on the day but typically would include the Sunnyside Park Hotel, Anew Parktonian Rooftop, First 15 Brewery, Elevate Rooftop or Hallmark House Rooftop, Curiocity Backpackers and Bertrand Cafe.
Private tours:
This tour is ONLY available for private group bookings. Fees below are for guiding, storytelling, and private bus transport with driver only. Any food or drinks along the way for the guests’ own account:
Minimum fee for 7 or less guests: R7500 in total
For 8-12 guests: R950 per person
For 13-21 guests: R875 per person
For 22 or more guests: R835 per person.

Please do not phone as we are mostly busy hosting guests. Send a message and we will contact you as soon as is possible. We will respond to your booking request and provide an online payment link for you to pay by bank card to secure the booking.

Guests participate in all JoburgPlaces tours at their own risk. Neither JoburgPlaces, nor its guides, accept any responsibility whatsoever for any injury, accident or death that may occur while participating in a JoburgPlaces tour, whether in a public or a private space.
A tour booking is only secured upon payment.
Provisional bookings will automatically be cancelled if not paid within 48 hours from making a booking.
Bookings cannot be cancelled once paid for any reason whatsoever and no refunds will be offered for cancelled bookings.
Bookings can be postponed to another date if postponed more than 30 days in advance of the booked date. However, bookings cannot be postponed for any reason whatsoever within 30 days of the tour date, as we would lose the opportunity to take another booking for that slot.
