Cape Watering Holes Tour
This six-hour tour is ideal for private groups that want a fun outing, spending time together while learning something new and changing their perspectives of Cape Town and South Africa. It is perfect for a corporate group or a family/friends celebration.
We travel by bus between six exceptional pubs, bars and rooftops in the Cape Town inner-city, telling the mesmerising story of the city along the way (we can choose the period/theme of storytelling together). We explore the forces of history that shaped the city into what it is today. A day of fun, drinks, learning, changing perceptions and contemplating the future too. An experience that will touch you deeply.
Typical stops could include 14 Stories at Sun Square Hotel (Foreshore), Mountain Club rooftop at Cloud 9 Boutique Hotel (Tamboerskloof), Athletic Club & Social (City Centre), Drinkery (Heritage Square), Fireman’s Arms (city centre), Art of Duplicity (District Six), BlackBrick Gardens (Gardens) and Radisson Red Hotel (V&A Waterfront) . However, the tour can be customised to suit your specific needs. We can add lunch or dinner in as well, if needed. However, extending the time will increase the overall cost.
The story we tell along the way is not about the places we visit per se, but about the city you see from, and experience via, these exceptional venues. It is simply the best way to get an overview of the history of Cape Town – one of the most complex and astounding cities in the world, situated amidst the most spectacular natural landscape on the planet.
The storytelling, presented by Gerald Garner, is mesmerizing, intense, engaging and thought-provoking. It unpacks the contested history of Cape Town is six separate sessions, presented at the stops along the way.

Available only as a private tour, 7-days a week, subject to availability.
We charge separately for guiding and for transport:
The minimum guiding/storytelling charge is R3400 for up to 4 guests.
Or R850 per person if more than 4 guests.
The minimum transport charge is R3500 in total for up to 4 guests.
We can quote for larger groups based on the number of guests and size of vehicle required.
Food and drinks are NOT INCLUDED in the above fees and are payable directly to each establishment we visit on the day.

Guests participate in all LocalPlaces tours at their own risk. Neither LocalPlaces, nor its guides, accept any responsibility whatsoever for any injury, accident or death that may occur while participating in a LocalPlaces tour, whether in a public or a private space.
A tour booking is only secured upon payment.
Provisional bookings will automatically be cancelled if not paid within 48 hours from making a booking.
Bookings cannot be cancelled once paid for any reason whatsoever and no refunds will be offered for cancelled bookings.
Bookings can be postponed to another date if postponed more than 30 days in advance of the booked date. However, bookings cannot be postponed for any reason whatsoever within 30 days of the tour date, as we would lose the opportunity to take another booking for that slot.
